Mike Clancy is my 4 times great grandfather. His date of birth is unknown. As he married in 1817 with a daughter born in 1821, his DOB could have been around 1800. His date of death and place of burial are also unknown, I only know his name because my 3 times great grandmother Mary Clancy born about 1821 - his daughter, names him on her immigration papers on an assisted passage to Australia arriving on The United Kingdom 7 September 1841, landing in Sydney NSW Australia. Mary says both of her parents are deceased at this time and gives her native place as Killaloe. Mary also names her mother Peggy Ryan on her papers. A marriage certificate was found for Peggy (Margaret) and Michael for 16 Feb 1817, married in Newport, Tipperary, apparently where Michael was from. It is possible the family moved to Killaloe after their marriage where many Clancy's lived, or perhaps Mary moved to Killaloe to work and live with Clancy relatives after her parents deaths as she gived her occupation as 'housemaid'. A witness to the wedding of Peggy and Mick is Patrick Ryan, probably a brother of Mary. I have been unable to find anything else about Micheal Clancy, but the name appears often in tithe allolment books but I have no way of knowing if they are 'my' Michael. I'd love it if anyone in Ireland could offer more information.
