William Kennedy was born on 27 Jan 1815 in Tipperary County. His parents were John and Ellen (nee Toohey). William married Bridget Ryan in 1840. In 1849, William, Bridget, and their first child, Patrick, left Ireland and entered Canada at Grosse Isle. In 1850, they crossed Lake Ontario and entered the United States, settling in Lincoln, New York. In 1859, Bridget died. William eventually remarried to Katherine Ward who also happened to be from Tipperary, Ireland.
