I am trying to find the baptismal record of my Great-Grandmother, Mary Molloy, born in 1865 +/- 5 years and believe she was born in one of the urban or rural town lands of Mountmellick. On her 1889 marriage record to William Cullen in Dublin, she states she is 24 years old (= 1865) and her father's name is James but instead of an occupation, Portarlington is written under his name. Why would the registrar write that? In the 1901 census, she states she's born in Queens County and is 38 making her born in 1863, and in the 1911census, she is now a widow aged 44, making her born in 1867, and born in County Dublin which is incorrect. When she emigrates to Canada in May of 1928, with her children and their families, she is 62 making her born in 1866, and states her place of birth is Mountmellick! After finding this record, I think Mountmellick is the actual place she was born in, not Portarlington. I found one baptismal record in Ballyfin, for a Mary Molloy born 1863 to a James Molloy and Teresa Gaffney but I don't think it's the correct record as someone has her in their family tree in Ancestry, photos and all. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
