Norah Geoghegan 1903
Back to ListI've spent years trying to trace my Irish heritage on genealagy sites without much success and to find out that there was no Irish Census in 1921 was a blow.
My Irish grandmother was called Norah Geoghegan, and she married my grandfather William Henry Hale on 04/10/1930 at the Catholic Church of St Edward the Confessor in Golders Green, London. Her father was recorded on the marriage certificate as William Geoghegan, occupation Farmer.
My mother was only 7 years old when my grandmother died in 1940, and as an adult the only information she could recall was that there was a family connection with Lismore.
According to the 1939 UK Register Norah's date of birth was 20/12/1903, but I've failed to find any trace of her in the Irish Censuses of 1901 and 1911. The closest I've been able to find was a William Geoghegan occupation Farmer from County Tipperary and his wife Mary born in County Waterford who had a daughter named Hanora who was born in 1900 or 1901.
