Honora Rafter was born on February 9, 1796, in Kilkenny, Ireland, her parents were Richard Rafter and Catherine Whelan. She married Daniel Phelan on February 21, 1814, in St-Canice's Roman Catholic Church in Kilkenny City. The Rafter's were from Cloranshea. They had nine children: Mary, Patrick, James, Bridget, Thomas, Ellen, Daniel, Joseph, and Richard. Honora continued to operate the farm after Daniel Phelan passed away sometime before 1847 judging by the marriage records for Patrick, James, Daniel, Joseph. She died on March 11, 1892, in Conahy Rocks, Kilkenny, Ireland, at the age of 96. Mary Phelan was the only child of Daniel Phelan and Honora Rafter that stayed in Ireland after the famine. Mary Phelan married Andrew Tynan on 15 Feb 1847 • Conahy, Kilkenny, Ireland. Mary Phelan could have been the eldest child since she was the first to marry. The valuation records of 1860 show that plot 12A is leased by Andrew Tynan. The valuation records of 1885 show that plot 12A is leased by Daniel Tynan
