Timothy Buckley was/is my Great Grandfather born to Daniel/Danielis and Margreta/Margareta/ Margaret née Murphy in Macroom, Cork. He married Emily Woodington on the 27th September 1863 in the Parish of St Jude's in Bristol. His father Daniels occupation is listed as Carpenter. Emily was 21, Her father George Woodingtons occupation listed as Coal Miner..Timothy's age listed as 40. The witnesses are listed as George and Mary Nash. Timothy and Emily had a son William Henry born/baptised 20 Nov 1863 (date to be verified) not sure what Parish? The 2nd child Mary Ellen was born in Australia in 1865 and the remaining 11 children were born in New Zealand from 1867- 1882 ,..... Before Timothy's marriage, at the age of 18 he joined the British Army and thereafter joined the 61st Foot of Regiment and served overseas in India for 13 years 6 months. He was in the Indian Mutiny campaign and took part in the siege of Delhi and the siege/relief of Lucknow......he only sustained a minor injury from a bullet graze to his hip. I have a copy of his admission as a Chelsea pensioner dated 20th Nov 1860 which has some discrepancies to my info....says he married Emily 7th Sept 1861 and children under 14 as 2 children.... transferring to Fremantle Australia 10th May 1865 then transferred to Sydney Australia 30th June 1865 after which he transferred to Auckland New Zealand arriving 1st July 1865....where he worked as a Warder in Mount Eden gaol (prison) before settling in Thames a 90 minute drive from Auckland where the family settled and expanded. .... This is where he died in 1902.......any confimations as to my info would be greatly welcomed.....
