My grandfather, Joseph Patrick Evans, was born in County Leitrim on April 28, 1901, according to the information he gave when he signed up with the Canadian Military after immigrating to Canada in 1929. He said his parents' names were John Evans and Mary Josephine (maiden name unknown). Joseph indicated he was Catholic. He also had a brother, John and a sister Kathleen or Catherine. I am unsure if there were any other siblings. The family apparently moved to England when my grandfather was young although I don't know a time frame. I haven't been able to track any of them down in either the 1901 or 1911 Census records in either Ireland or England. My grandfather married in Canada in 1933. It is possible he had another child in Canada, sometime between 1930 to 1932, before he met my grandmother. I have so little to go on but I am not giving up on finding any possible ancestors or current relatives. I would love to know more about my Irish roots.
