Lizzie Barrett of Ballinvilla aka Eliza Barrett was born on 1 September 1892.
She was the third eldest daughter of Martin Barrett (1859-1932) and Catherine 'Kate' Dowd of Ballinvilla (west). She was the granddaughter of John Barrett (1816-1886) and Mary Dowd of Ryefield.
She moved to Dublin to work as a Milliner, and was engaged to be married, when she discovered she had "a fibroid tumor of the uterus". She returned home and died 12 months later age 21.
Her certificate of death was registered in Carrick on Shannon by her father Martin Barrett, who was present at death. Lizzie was one of 3 children Martin would bury too young. In 1902, her younger brother John Barrett died age 5, of blood poisoning. In 1919, her younger sister Delia Barrett died from the Spanish Flu.
