Mary was born to Timothy Bonus and Mary Kerrigan. She had eight siblings, four of whom also migrated to America. Her youngest sister Alice married into the Reynolds family and stayed in Meath. Some of Alice's "Reynolds" descendants migrated to the UK.
In 1888, Mary followed her eldest brother, Michael "Mick" to Hackensack, New Jersey in Bergen County. Mary met John O'Connor there, an immigrant from Limerick. John & Mary were married on the 5th of January in 1890. They had eight children together, including my great-grandmother Mary O'Connor. I have her death estimated between 1936 and 1939. Her sister Margaret died in 1935 and Mary is mentioned in the obituary as surviving her. I cannot find her on a 1940 census so that is why my estimates are like that. It has been challenging with the surge of Irish immigrants during this period and such a common name as Mary O'Connor to locate a death record.
