His obituary says he migrated to Texas from Ireland in about 1854
Oral family history says he came with his brother (or close relative) Sam. There are tax records for Sam in Fayette County, Texas until 1859. After that I can find nothing about Sam. But Michael moves to Gonzales County, Texas. He owns land. He is in several newspaper articles. He marries a widow from Washington County Texas and they have three children.
His tombstone and the family Bible say he was born December 28, 1828. However his military records say he was born in 1832 or 1834.
Two place names are associated with Michael Cassidy - Tullentaine Killaghtee Donegal. I have several DNA matches that also link to Tullentaine. But I seem to be finding uncles and cousins. None of the DNA matches has a Michael Cassidy in their family tree.
The second place name is Dumferlin as recorded in the Family Bible. I do not know where that is.
I would like to find out Michael Cassidy's parent's names.
